Founded in 1998 by Dr. Parminder Mangat, Serving East Vancouver for Over 25 Years
Killarney Animal Hospital was founded in 1998 by Dr. Parminder Mangat, a Vancouver veterinarian with over 30 years of experience. Dr. Mangat earned his veterinary degree in 1990, completed further education at Iowa State University, and practiced in the United States from 1995. He moved to Canada in 1997 and opened Killarney Animal Hospital the following year with a clear purpose: to provide accessible, affordable, and compassionate care to the families of the Killarney and East Vancouver community. More than 25 years later, that founding purpose still shapes every appointment, every treatment plan, and every conversation we have with pet owners who walk through our doors.
Advanced In-House Diagnostics and Surgical Capabilities
Killarney Animal Hospital is equipped with a comprehensive range of on-site diagnostic technology, allowing most conditions to be assessed and treated without the need for outside referrals. Our facility includes a blood analyzer for same-day laboratory results, digital X-ray, abdominal and cardiac ultrasound, echocardiogram for heart function assessment, endoscopy and rhinoscopy for internal examination, therapeutic laser for pain management, an oxygen chamber for respiratory support, and a fully equipped surgical suite with modern anesthesia monitoring. This range of capabilities means faster answers, fewer appointments, and more informed care decisions for your pet.
Comprehensive Veterinary Services for Dogs, Cats, and Small Animals
Our hospital provides a full range of veterinary services for dogs, cats, and small animals. Services include pet care, medical services, surgical services, same-day urgent care, dental care, pet diagnostics, wellness programs, nutrition counseling, medical grooming, pet travel services, laboratory services, and radiology services. Dr. Mangat has a particular focus on orthopedic and complex surgeries and dentistry, and the hospital also supports local rescue societies with veterinary care. We serve cats, dogs, ferrets, rabbits, chinchillas, and guinea pigs, making Killarney Animal Hospital one of the few clinics in East Vancouver that consistently treats small mammals alongside companion animals.
Extended Hours and Same-Day Urgent Care in East Vancouver
Killarney Animal Hospital is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Extended hours mean pet owners in East Vancouver can access same-day urgent care and routine appointments without disrupting their work or family schedule. Please note that a doctor may not be on duty during all open hours, and we recommend calling ahead for urgent concerns. For situations that require immediate attention outside of our opening hours, Canada West Veterinary Specialists and Critical Care at 1988 Kootenay Street, Vancouver is available around the clock at (604) 473-4882.
Oliver’s Story: Rescue, Recovery, and the Heart of Killarney Animal Hospital
Oliver came to us in 2019 as a sick stray found on the streets of Vancouver. After a month of hospitalization and careful rehabilitation by our team, he made a full recovery and became a permanent member of the Killarney family. Oliver’s story reflects something we believe about every patient who comes through our doors: that attentive, patient care makes a real difference. Killarney Animal Hospital also partners with local rescue organizations, and Dr. Mangat has provided veterinary support to rescue societies throughout his career in East Vancouver.
